Franciscan Convent In Brussels

Franciscan Convent In Brussels

This is a novel way of presenting archaeology and history of a city.  They even provide a QR code so you can listen to a commentary.  You can listen to the commentary at home, too.  The ruins are covered with glass so you can view them from the street, but they are protected from the weather at the same time.

Go to "Bruxella 1238" archaeological site to listen to the commentary and drift back 777 years.  Enjoy your journey!

Canals & Waterways of Belgium

Belgium has 1,600km of canals and waterways.  The following site gives a comprehensive overview of Belgian waterways and waterways throughout Europe.  Here we look at how 1,350T class barges climb through Belgian countryside.

Strépy-Thieu is the highest (73.15m) boat lift in the world (until the Three Gorges boat lift in China is completed.).  There are two lifts one on either side of the main building.
